You've got diabetes, now what?

Diabetes. The first time you hear that you have Diabetes is a frightening and confusing experience. Insulin. Blood Glucose. Testing procedures. Risks. Side effects. Pancreas. It’s enough to make you want to run away screaming.

And for a moment, you just might do that but, eventually, you realize that your new normal is living with diabetes and adjusting your lifestyle to manage it.

How do you manage it? How do you sift through all of the information, the recommendations and the restrictions? Diabetes Lifestyle Coach Randy Wilson has been there, he knows the struggle, and he can help you discover how to live your life on your own terms with diabetes.

The Great BG Defined

Blood Glucose

Blood Glucose, or BG, is the main source of energy for your body. Glucose comes from carbohydrates and other foods and is regulated by the hormone insulin, produced by the pancreas. For diabetics, it is essential to monitor blood glucose to maintain safe and healthy levels.

Great Blood Glucose

If you have diabetes, the American Diabetes Association (ADA) advises your blood sugar levels before meals be from 80–130 mg/dl and your levels 1–2 hours after meals under 180. Diabetics must test their blood glucose levels regularly and maintain an appropriate diet and exercise regimen in order to ensure that they remain within their target healthy range.

Great BG

People with diabetes face the constant challenge of attaining great blood glucose, or “Great BG”, in their daily lives, but there’s more to life than tests, diets, and confusing terminology. Big Gains are made one small step at a time with the support of a community, a team of care professionals, and a coach who can help you create management strategies that dramatically improve your quality of life.
